Dorothy lived in a small house in Kansas.... これはThe Wizard of Oz の最初の一節。
“Dorothy lived in a small house in Kansas….” There are very few earthquakes in Kansas, as in most of central North America. But “sometimes the wind [comes] very fast and very suddenly….”
“Let’s build a house!”, I said. The three girls we’re delighted as much as they were determined to complete the task without any adult help. I mean, does it really matter if the chimney is upside down..?
Once completed, the colorful foam house is a great bit of fun every time. No grown-ups allowed this time it seemed, though: my “knock knock” was only met with “だーめ!”.
Occasionally I would be called on to help find the right spot for one of the foam letters that fit in shaped slots all over the walls of the miniature dwelling.
Enough fun! I thought it was time to dismantle the house, demolition style! Let there be wind...and the frame of the house shook; gently at first, but then violently...so much so that the roof started to flap off in the midst of this formidable cyclone.
But then... “じしんだー”. Hmm, ok, so my category four hurricane had just been transformed into a magnitude 9 earthquake.
I had to go along with it, you see, because you can't argue much with a three year-old.
They had so much fun at it that they even rebuilt the house afterward just so it could be destroyed again!
